This year’s Suffolk Kite Festival was my 6th time attending the event. I was invited along to do 4 public demonstrations throughout the weekend. Unfortunately I missed last year’s festival due to the British Championships falling on the same day but luckily there were no other events on this year so I happily accepted the invite and had yet another fun but successful time there.
Despite a forecast of 6mph at max, things turned out a little differently as when I arrived in the mornings, both days had more wind; I was delighted and ended up riding in the free ride arena for most of both days!
The main arena demonstrations on Saturday were hard work, because we had lulls in the wind both times, however I still managed to land some underpowered tricks such as mobes, kiteloop 3s and 360 inverts. All in all I think myself and Craig did well considering how poor the conditions were at the time.
Luckily Sunday supplied much better conditions and we were able to put a better display on. I went for the crowd pleasing tricks such as some big board offs, inverts and then mixed in some new style handlepasses just so I didn’t get bored of doing the same tricks over and over.
Massive thanks for the invite and I hope we get invited next year to do the same thing!
